Turn lecture slides into flashcards with AI

Upload your slides and get a flashcard deck built from what your lecturer actually covered. Study it in the chat, or export it to Anki or Quizlet.

From slides to a study deck

Upload your slides

Export the lecture deck as a PDF (most courses already post them that way) and drop it in. Silas reads every slide, including diagrams and scanned pages.

Ask for a deck

“Make 30 flashcards from week 4, focusing on definitions and formulas.” Silas writes the cards from the slides themselves, not from a generic summary of the topic.

Study in the chat

Flip through the deck right next to the conversation. Shuffle it, then go again with only the cards you missed until you know them all.

Take it anywhere

Copy or download the deck as CSV and import it into Anki or Quizlet if that is where you already keep your reviews.

Why cards from your own slides beat generic decks

Shared decks and topic-level AI tools give you cards about the subject. Exams test the course: the definitions your lecturer used, the examples they worked through, the formulas they put on the slides. Cards written from your own slides match what you will be asked.

Because the deck comes from your documents, you can check any card against the source. Ask Silas where a card came from and it cites the slide. When a card leaves you unsure, ask a follow-up question in the same chat. Once the cards are down, test yourself with a practice quiz from the same PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Can AI make flashcards from my lecture slides?

Yes. Upload the slides as a PDF and ask Silas for flashcards. It reads the whole deck, including figures and scanned slides, and writes question-and-answer cards from that content, with an optional hint on each card.

Can I upload PowerPoint files directly?

Export them as PDF first. PowerPoint and Google Slides both do this in one step, and most lecturers already share slides as PDFs on Canvas or Moodle. Silas also accepts Word documents, images of slides, and plain text notes.

Can I export the flashcards to Anki or Quizlet?

Yes. Every deck can be copied or downloaded as CSV, which both Anki and Quizlet import.

Can I make flashcards from several lectures at once?

Yes. Put a term’s slides in one folder and ask for a deck that covers all of them, or one deck per lecture. Silas pulls the relevant slides from each file.

Is it free?

You can start free with a small document library. The Student plan ($10/month) holds 250 documents, unlocks every AI model, and syncs files from Canvas, Google Drive, and Microsoft 365.
